May 2022 Professionals of the Month
Samantha Haskell is a senior from Gardiner Area High School enrolled in the Machine Tool with Welding program. She has enjoyed that after spending the start of the school year learning the safety aspects of the program, much of the time is now spent on hands-on projects. Her favorite part of the program has been learning how to stick weld and she recently took the American Welding Society (AWS) certification test. Her instructor, Mr. Darryl Nadeau, said, “Samantha is a prime example of what employers out there are asking and looking for. Her attitude and work ethics are an A plus. She will have a great career.” Samantha currently works at IGA in Randolph. This summer she is looking forward to pulling steers at Maine’s agricultural fairs. After graduation, Samantha will attend Kennebec Valley Community College’s Welding program.
Wyatt French is a senior from Erskine Academy enrolled for the second year in the Auto Body program. He has enjoyed learning in the classroom and then being able to go directly into the shop and apply what he has learned. He is proud he recently completed a project that involved painting high gloss black, which is difficult because the color black is known to show imperfections if not applied correctly. Wyatt’s instructor, Mr. Romeo Roy, said, “Wyatt has been a great two-year student here at CATC in Auto Body. His talents are very well rounded. He is a very respectful and responsible young man with a work ethic like no other. He will do very well in the workforce.” Wyatt currently works after school welding for a local company that manufactures blowers. He likes to spend time working on his truck. After graduation, Wyatt will continue his education and pursue a career in heavy diesel equipment mechanics.
