2018 September Student(s) of the Month
Shelby Berlew is a senior from Gardiner Area High School enrolled in the Certified Nursing Assistant program. Last year, Shelby completed the Early Childhood Education program at CATC. She enjoys the hands-on learning opportunities at CATC, and describes the classes as not learning so much just out of a book. Her Certified Nursing Instructor, Ms. Bethany Sherman says, “Shelby is everything you want in a student and more. She is honest, professional, hardworking, kind, organized, well respected by her peers and a natural leader.” Shelby has been inducted into CATC’s chapter of the National Technical Honor Society. When she is not in school, Shelby is competing with the Maine Boom Junior Olympic Volleyball team. In the future, Shelby plans to combine her love of working with children and the medical field.
Stefan Gawron is a senior from Maranacook Community High School enrolled in the Auto Tech program for the 2nd year. He
loves coming to CATC to learn the theory behind different aspects of vehicle repair jobs and then be able to app
ly the knowledge. This helps in his job at Johnny’s Auto in Wayne. His instructor, Mr. Keith Hart
states, “Stefan is mature beyond his years. He is natural mechanical aptitude and really shines in the shop.” Last year Stefan earned his Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) brake certification. In his spare time, Stefan is working on building a diesel truck for mudding. In the fall, Stefan plans to attend the Ford Asset program at Central Maine Community College.”
