September 2015 Students of the Month
Renee Beaudoin is a senior from Erskine Academy enrolled in the Certified Nursing Assistant program. Her instructor, Mrs. Bethany Sherman nominated Renee because, “she represents the type of person that should be caring for our loved ones.” Renee has enjoyed the program and is looking forward to beginning her clinical experience at Maine Veteran’s Home. Renee says she has always known she wanted to be a nurse, as she likes taking care of people and spending time with the older people. She enjoys the older generation so much that she recently signed up for the SEARCH program through Erskine Academy, which matches her up with a grandparent to adopt. When she is not in school, Renee may be playing lacrosse or working at the Quarry Tap Room. Upon graduation, Renee will pursue postsecondary education at Kennebec Valley Community College with the goal of becoming a nurse.
Isaac Taylor is a senior from Erskine Academy enrolled for the 2nd year in the Automotive Technology program. His instructor, Mr. Keith Hart, was very impressed with the way Isaac came back this year. Mr. Hart said, “Isaac came back ready to learn and ready to work. He motivates others in class.” Isaac has taken on the role of one of the class’s team leaders. In this role, he leads a team of other automotive technology students. Isaac came back to CATC for a second year because he likes the hands-on learning. This past summer, Issac was employed at Lajoie Brothers. He currently works at Diesel Dan’s and where he is working towards his State Inspection License. Upon graduation, Isaac plans to attend Kennebec Valley’s Community College’s Line Worker program.
