October 2015 Students of the Month
Rhiannon Choate is a senior from Hall-Dale High School enrolled in the Architecture & Engineering Design program. She finds this program a perfect match for her because she has always liked to draw as well as learn new things. She is currently working on building a bridge with popsicle sticks. She has enjoyed many hands on projects in the class, such as learning architecture lettering techniques, designing a Bauhaus with shipping containers and creating a watercolor painting of Brunelleschi’s Dome. Her instructor, Mr. Robert Sherman, says, “Rhiannon is a perfect ambassador for the CATC program. Her enthusiasm for the subject is contagious, which has helped create a team environment in the classroom.” Upon graduation, Rhiannon plans to attend University of Maine at Augusta and major in Architecture.
Haley Fortin is a senior from Cony enrolled for the 2nd year in the Early Childhood Education program. She is grateful that the program has helped her decide what she wants to do as a career, which is to own her own daycare center. Her favorite part of the class has been running My First School, which is the pre-school program operated through Capital Area Technical Center. Her instructor, Mrs. Erin Sirois, says, “Haley is a hard-working team player. The Early Childhood field will greatly benefit from Haley’s patient, kind and nurturing personality.” When she isn’t at school, Haley is busy working at Friendly’s. Upon graduation, Haley plans to attend Thomas College and major in Early Childhood Management.
