November 2015 Students of the Month
Morgan Metcalf is a senior from Cony enrolled in the Graphic Design & Printing Technology program. Last year, Morgan moved to Maine from Texas. She was so excited to learn about Capital Area Technical Center as there wasn’t anything like that available to her through her school in Texas. She enjoys being able to work towards something she wants to do for a career. The program is helping her get her portfolio together as she applies to college graphic design programs. Her instructor, Mrs. Jessica Douin states, “Morgan is always willing to help out other students. She puts a lot of effort into her projects. She is a great critical thinker and problem solver.” In the future, Morgan hopes to pursue a career as a graphic designer.
Cody Beaudoin is a senior from Erskine Academy enrolled for the second year in the Machine Tool Technology & Welding Fabrication program. As part of the program, he is apprenticing at Specialty Products Company (SPC) in Whitefield. His instructor, Mr. Darryl Nadeau states, “Cody has the attributes to be a great machinist. He takes pride in his work, wants to learn new things and is willing to tackle any job.” When Cody is not in school, he can be found on the basketball court or on the baseball field. Cody plans to attend Kennebec Valley Community College with the goal of having a career in machining.
