February 2017 Students of the Month

Kassidy McGuire is a junior from Cony enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program. She enjoys working with the preschoolers in the program’s My First School. She likes the responsibility of taking care of the children and has been amazed at how much growth she has seen from them in such a short time. Her instructor, Mrs. Erin Sirois, says, “Kassidy’s classwork, lab work and attendance are exceptional. Every day she demonstrates her understanding of and commitment to the early childhood field. When she is not in school, Kassidy works at Child’s Choice daycare. Next year, Kassidy plans to attend the 2nd year of the CATC Early Childhood Education program and in the future pursue a career working with young children.
Dylan Trevino is a junior from Cony enrolled in the Architecture & Engineering Design program. He enjoys the engineering aspects of the program and has designed and built a bridge model with over 2500 popsicle sticks, used Sketch-Up, a 3-D modeling computer program, and used a 3-D printer. His instructor, Mr. Robert Sherman states, “Dylan demonstrated outstanding professionalism as he worked diligently to transport and set up the Architecture and Engineering Design SkillsUSA Local Showcase and Competition display. He presented to visitors the wide range of class projects, including his 12.5 foot long by 3.5 foot tall model arched truss drawbridge, helping to earn him a gold medal.” Dylan is interested in entrepreneurship and has shadowed small businesses, as well as tried a few business ventures of his own. In the future, he plans to attend a postsecondary pre-engineering program and pursue a career in robotics or 3-D printing.
